Our Services

Services We Offer

Five services, from the monthly bookkeeping that keeps the books defensible through to the profit and tax planning that uses them. Every industry, non-profits included.

Industries

All of them, non-profits included

Method

Profit First, run alongside the bookkeeping

Not offered

Tax return preparation or filing

01

Compliance Bookkeeping

Transactions categorised correctly, accounts reconciled, and a P&L and balance sheet every month that stand up to a lender, a board or an auditor.

What this covers

Bank, credit card and loan accounts reconciled every month

Transactions categorised against a chart of accounts built for your business, not a generic template

Profit and loss, balance sheet and cash position delivered on a fixed schedule

02

Expense Reduction

A line-by-line look at what the business is actually spending, and a plan to cut the costs that are not earning their place.

What this covers

A line-by-line read of current spend, grouped so you can see the pattern rather than the noise

Subscriptions and recurring charges checked against what the business genuinely uses

Vendor and supplier costs compared against what the work actually requires

03

Profit Growth Strategy

Profit First put into practice: pricing, margin and cash allocation worked through so profit is set aside first rather than hoped for last.

What this covers

Profit First accounts opened and allocation percentages set against your real numbers

Allocations applied on a regular rhythm so profit, tax and owner pay move first

Pricing and margin worked through service by service, not averaged across the business

04

KPI Tracking and Reporting

The handful of numbers that actually predict how your business is doing, identified, tracked and reported so you can act on them early.

What this covers

The measures that predict your results identified with you, not handed down from a template

A baseline established so you can see movement rather than a single number

Tracked and reported every month alongside the financial statements

05

Tax Planning and Advisory

Decisions made through the year rather than in April, so the bill in spring is one you already planned for.

What this covers

Tax set aside as part of every allocation, so the money is there when the bill arrives

Decisions reviewed through the year while they can still be changed

Records kept so your preparer is not reconstructing the year from receipts

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I take one service on its own?

Yes. Plenty of clients start with the bookkeeping alone and add the planning later, and some take the expense review as a one-off piece of work.

Do you have a minimum size?

No. Kathryn works with sole operators and with businesses carrying a payroll. What matters is whether the work is a fit, which the first call will tell you both.

Do you prepare and file tax returns?

No. SmartAccounting Firm is a bookkeeping and advisory practice, and tax preparation is deliberately outside what we offer. Kathryn does tax planning through the year and works alongside whoever files your returns.

What does it cost?

It depends on the state of the books and what the business needs, so nothing is quoted before Kathryn has looked. The first conversation is free and ends with a written scope and a price, not an invoice.
